How does it work?

How do I participate?

Three easy steps:

  1. Register on this page (click on Register below)

  2. Pay the registration fee as part of the registration process

  3. After we receive your payment we send you a link to our race portal where you need to create an account and link your running watch/fitness tracker application. Once you've linked this, you don't have to do anything else, your activities will be automatically synced with our app.

How much time do I have to complete the challenge?

Do I have to send details of my activities?

No. If you follow the steps on this page for registration the activities from your fitness/sport tracker/watch will be synced automatically. Please note that only activities that you do AFTER linking your app with ours will be synced, we do not handle/track activities manually and we do not accept activities manually entered or GPX imported to tracking apps, including for indoor activities.

What activities count against my race target?

Running, Walking, Cycling and even Swimming and Hiking activities count, however, please note that only activities that you do AFTER linking your app with ours will be synced, we do not handle/track activities manually and we do not accept activities manually entered or GPX imported to tracking apps, including for indoor activities.

The Charity Run Malta 2021 219km Malta Circle Challenge opens on 1 May 2021: participants who have linked their tracker with our race portal before 1 May will have their activities calculated against the race target from this date. It is possible to join later as well but the cut-off date is the same for everyone. The cut-off date for the Charity Run Malta 2021 219km Malta Circle Challenge is 15 August 2021. Only activities completed AND synced with our race portal automatically count against your challenge target. For walkers and runners we recommend to leave 3 months to deliver this target but participants can conquer the distance within any period between the opening and cut-off dates.

Please note that only activities that you do AFTER linking your tracker app with ours will be counted against your challenge target, we do not handle/track activities manually and we do not accept activities manually entered or GPX imported to tracking apps, including for indoor activities.

Do I have to complete the challenge in one activity?

No. You can do as many activities as you like and cumulate your distance against the goal. The only limitation is to finish the challenge i.e. collect enough km by the cut-off date.

How do I know how I'm progressing?

As part of the registration you get access to our race portal on which you can always track your progress.

Can I team up with others to complete this challenge?

No, it's a Solo challenge. This means each participant should complete the challenge alone - however, you can do it by breaking up the distance into as many activities as you like.

What type of running watch/fitness tracker/app do I need to participate?

Currently, the following brands are supported: Garmin, Polar, Suunto, Fitbit, Nike+, Adidas running, Coros, MapMyRun/Walk/Ride..., Runkeeper, Rouvy, Healthmate, Decathlon Coach, Tomtom, Movescount (Suunto). Please note that first you have to connect your app and we do not accept activities manually entered or GPX imported to tracking apps, including for indoor activities.

If you use another type of tracker/app which is not listed above, you may still be able to participate by linking yours to one of the above and then connecting with us. The availability of this workaround option does not depend on us but we may be able to help you explore it. If you need help, reach out through our Contact Us page or at info@charityrunmalta.com.

How much of my contribution will go to charity?

Which charity will get the contributions?

It depends on which package you select. Basic covers only the cost of technology used, the cost of prizes and logistics only so we encourage to select the Kindhearted or Generous package options - with these all extra you give will be passed on to Charity. We do not keep anything.

For our first challenge, the 219km Malta Circle Challenge all charitable contributions will go to the Inspire Foundation (VO/0199).

How much does it cost?

You can select from 3 contribution packages:

1. Basic (EUR 15)

No charity, just covering basic logistics costs. We keep nothing.

2. Kindhearted (EUR 25)

Basic + EUR 10 charity. We keep nothing.

3. Generous (EUR 35)

Basic + EUR 20 charity. We keep nothing.

Early bird offer: the first 100 participants get 5 EUR discount from the above.

If you can afford it, we encourage you to take the Kindhearted or Generous package as we would like to give back to the community as well as to keep you motivated in exercising.

What about the medal?

Participants completing the challenge will get a medal to certify their achievement.

If you apply prior to 10 May you will get a customized medal with your name included. The number of applications may be limited and for those joining the challenge after 10 May the customization of the medal is not available.

Participants in Malta can pick up their medal in person following the cut-off date of the challenge (15 August 2021). The medals can be picked up at the Garmin Malta shop in Gzira. If you wish to participate from outside Malta we can post your medal to you, however this can be done at an extra cost. If you would like this, please contact us before you start the registration so we can confirm this to you before you register.
