How does this race work?
How do I participate?
Three easy steps:
-
Register on this page (click on Register below) until 6.12.2021 (extended from 1.12.2021)
-
Pay the registration fee as part of the registration process
-
After we receive your payment we will send you a link to our race portal on MyVirtualMission where you need to create an account (if you don't have one yet) and link your running watch/fitness tracker application. Once you've linked this, you don't have to do anything else, your activities will be automatically synced with our app.
How much time do I have to complete the challenge?
The Garmin Run Series 2021 10k Virtual Edition opens on 8 December 2021 and runs until 13 December 2021. Participants who have linked their tracker with our race portal before 8 December will have their activities calculated against the race target from this date. Only activities completed AND synced with our race portal automatically within this period count against your challenge target.
Please note that only activities that you do AFTER linking your tracker app with ours will be counted against your challenge target, we do not handle/track activities manually and we do not accept activities manually entered or GPX imported to tracking apps.
Do I have to complete the challenge in one activity?
No. You can do as many activities as you like and cumulate your distance against the goal. The only limitation is to finish the challenge i.e. collect enough km by the cut-off date.
Can I team up with others to complete this challenge?
Do I have to send details of my activities?
No. If you follow the steps on this page for registration the activities from your fitness/sport tracker/watch will be synced automatically.
What activities count against my race target?
In this race both indoor and outdoor Running and Walking activities count (not daily steps), however, please note that only activities that you do AFTER linking your app with ours will be synced, we do not handle/track activities manually and we do not accept activities manually entered or GPX imported to tracking apps. Your activities will start counting against the race target from the time when you've connected your tracker with us AND you have been accepted into the mission. Participants can manage which of their activities they wish to count against the challenge target and they can discard individual activities after they recorded - they can do this through the My Virtual Mission race app, selecting from the options offered there. Such changes can only be done within the race cut-off time or before the participants accepts the completion of the challenge - whichever is earlier.
How do I know how I'm progressing?
As part of the registration you get access to our race portal on which you can always track your progress.
What type of running watch/fitness tracker/app do I need to participate?
Each participant will have to complete the 10km distance and we have prizes for the top 3 male and top 3 female participants. At the same time, we encourage you to form teams, challenge each other and maybe even run together (bearing in mind Covid-19 measures and safety), so we also have a team prize to give away. Teams can be up to 10 people and members should indicate their team name as part of the registration process (max. 15 characters).
The team prize will be given based on the fastest cumulative speed divided by the number of team members. All team members have to complete the10km race distance individually.
Currently, the following brands are supported: Garmin, Apple Watch, Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit, Adidas Running, Map My Run, Map My Ride, Map My Walk, Runkeeper, Strava. Please note that first you have to connect your app and we do not accept activities manually entered or GPX imported to tracking apps.
If you use another type of tracker/app which is not listed above, you may still be able to participate by linking yours to one of the above and then connecting with us. The availability of this workaround option does not depend on us but we may be able to help you explore it. If you need help, reach out through our Contact Us page or at info@charityrunmalta.com.
